SPRING 2009

What's new?

2009 has seen no improvement in the conditions at the compound. The place is completely neglected and the weeds that were beginning to take hold around the place, now dominate. There are at least 8 dogs down there at the moment........the longest inmate, the Alsatian, continues to mope and makes no effort to stand or bark when people approach the place. He used to go mad, but has been worn down and knows there is no hope and no future for him. The other dogs retain a certain optimism, but even they are looking ungroomed, underfed and miserable.

Dog-Girl has not visited the site at any time this year. Neither has there been any evidence of the place being cleaned out.....the animals are living in pens that have a carpet of faeces underfoot and this can only be adding to their distress. Their water supply must come from somewhere, but it's not clear from where. The water deposit, which feeds the pipes into the pens, has been empty all year, although it was finally filled up at the end of April.

Dog-Girl's accomplice has now placed his own dog in the compound. This beautiful animal must wonder what he has done to be so betrayed, although his 'lot' is better than that of the other dogs as his owner releases him for a run-about on the few occasions that he visits for longer than a few minutes. After each taste of freedom, the dog is returned to the pens with the other animals, none of whom are ever released to run about. Without fail, after each visit, and for some hours after the man has gone, the dogs fight, whimper and howl amongst themselves. It is pitiful to hear.

In January 2009 the conditions are already becoming unacceptable. Four months on you can barely see the dirt for faeces.
