It has been just over a month since the 40+ dogs were removed from the compound. For a couple of weeks, there was no activity down there, but, with such a heavy investment in the place, it was unlikely that Dog-Girl would allow it to sit empty and unused. Towards the end of January, she returned and began to cover the fencing in green plastic sheeting. Several metres of the covering was used to enclose the inner areas of the compound and effectively prevent anyone from being able to see inside.
The next day, she put four dogs into the smaller fenced off enclosures, but, without a great deal of physical effort, it is impossible, now, to see exactly how many dogs are incarcerated, whether or not they are being fed, and the conditions in which they are living. We shall soon need a microlite to see anything inside the compound!
The Town Hall was informed, as were the Guardia, and we were told that she is legally allowed to have four dogs, without license, but any more animals would need to be registered, chipped and licensed.
It is irrelevant, apparently, that she does not live with these animals, does not feed them regularly and, even worse, that she has a history of animal abuse.
Ten days after leaving these dogs....and with no visits during this time....she brought another three dogs.
The Guardia were informed. They said they would look into it.
Another ten days passed, with no visits to feed or water these seven dogs. Then we were informed that the Town Hall have approved her keeping six dogs there, as long as she feeds them every day and keeps them well. When the Guardia were told that there were seven dogs there, they said they had been told there were six......so that was that!!
After checking the numbers, the Guardia were informed...AGAIN....that there were seven dogs and we reiterated our concern that the animals are not being regularly fed and watered. Dog-Girl has workmen there erecting more fencing, but the dogs are not being fed.
PETITION: There is a petition currently being circulated. You can sign this at 'Happy Pets' in Camposol B (Mazarron) if you would like to add your voice to this ongoing saga. Dog-Girl's name and address are also available there if you feel strongly enough to place your own 'denuncia'.
We continue to monitor the situation and thank all those, who have shown an interest, for their concern and support.
